This article explores the historical struggles and achievements of the Longhouse peoples in North America as they reclaimed their rights and self-governance. Facing invasions and power consolidation by European and Chinese settlers, the Longhouse peoples embarked on a journey to restore their cultural traditions and sovereignty. Over centuries, they asserted their rights through treaties and compacts, ultimately establishing self-governing authorities. The article emphasizes the vital role of self-determination and sovereignty in empowering Indigenous nations to negotiate with state governments and reclaim their rightful place. This work highlights the ongoing journey toward Indigenous empowerment and recognition in the broader human community.
