Abstract

Community knowledge is pivotal in biodiversity conservation, as demonstrated by the Monpa tribe's indigenous strategies in utilizing Paisang and pine tree leaves for various crops. Women's significant role in collecting and using these leaves enhances soil fertility, erosion control, and moisture conservation. The study also explores the conservation practices of Paisang tree leaves by the Monpa tribe for sustainable crop productivity and cultural preservation. The selection of crop species based on Paisang leaf availability, incorporation of indigenous crop varieties with Paisang leaves, and the Chheskaran festival's celebration for protecting local resources are highlighted. Additionally, the performance of soybean production technology among resource-rich and resource-poor farmers in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, underscores the importance of tailoring agricultural technologies to diverse farming contexts for sustainable agricultural development.
