Abstract

This article examines the ongoing crisis of the modern state system, illustrated by recent geopolitical tensions and internal governance challenges across various regions. It traces the historical development of the modern state from the Treaty of Westphalia, highlighting how rigid state borders have contributed to cultural fragmentation and territorial disputes. The author argues that these divisions exacerbate conflicts and undermine cooperative governance. To address these challenges, the article advocates for adopting a model similar to the European Union in other parts of the world, promoting regional integration based on interdependence, democratic pluralism, and shared sovereignty. This approach, the author suggests, could help mitigate conflicts, enhance stability, and foster peace by encouraging collaboration beyond traditional national borders. The article calls for rethinking state structures to better reflect contemporary political realities and cultural diversity.
